We have such busy week ahead of us!

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are scheduled 1/2 days for parent conferences. I am looking forward to meeting with each of you.

We have earned 20 PAWS as a class and will have a celebration this Friday afternoon. We will be watching a movie.  The most popular request was Home Alone.  If anyone has a copy on DVD, would it be possible that we borrow it? Please let me know if you have a copy to share.

With our movie celebration, I usually bring in a special snack such a popcorn.  Since we have been learning about the Layers of Soil during science, I thought it would be fun for the kids to make a special pudding and graham cracker "SOIL" snack.  The following ingredients are included in the recipe.  Please let me know if your child has a food allergy that would prevent them from having this snack. They may bring in a special snack from home to replace the soil snack.

Recipe Ingredients for Soil
will include:
·       Clear plastic cups
·       Crushed m&ms
·       Crushed Graham Cracker
·       Chocolate Pudding
·       Chocolate Sprinkles
·       Crushed Oreos
·       Gummy Worms

·       Green Sugar or Sprinkles

     Thanks for all your support!!!

Moving from January to February:

The month has passed so quickly! Here are some reminders and thoughts to look forward to:
We are looking forward to all the fun activities that are coming up!!!

Due to the anticipated rain tomorrow, our scheduled Day of Play is going to be this Friday, February 5th.  Children may bring in a game or toy to use during their extra indoor recess time. Reminder: NO electronics--- just plain 'old fashioned' toys.

On another note, the kids are working hard on their Famous Leader projects in class. Home projects are due the week of February 22nd. If your child finished their project ahead of time, feel free to send it in.

Our Valentine's Day celebration will take place Thursday, February 11th, from 2:30-3:10. Please use the class list sent home to make sure all students in class have a valentine. Also, please do not send any candy/food treats with valentines.

Happy new year and Welcome back to all!

Dear parents,

Well we have turned another year. Hopefully, I will get better at posting on my blog in 2016!!

Updates and News:

Reading Homework:
*Reading response papers went home tonight to complete with reading homework for tonight.

Math Homework:
*We started a new unit in math today on geometry.  Homelink 5.1 is also due tomorrow. The unit family letter went home before vacation and can be used to help your child with homework (it has answers on it!)

Literacy Unit:

This week we are starting a new unit on non-fiction.  During the week your child will choose a famous leader they will research and write a report about in class.  More information will come home once they choose the leader they will be studying.

*Some students have asked if they can bring a book from home about a certain leader. As long as they have a 'just right' book they can keep in class to write their report it should be fine, but please have them bring in the book so I can check it.  Please note that there will be a home project they will be doing as well.

Please let me know if you have any questions as we move along. More info to come.

Thanks!!

Change of plans:  NO Homework for tonight!!!

Dear parents,

We had a great time on our filed trip! The kids were able to do some really fun activities including making a map of Connecticut during out Mat It! program and making ooblek and imitation snow in the Science Matters program.  Please ask your kids to show you what they made and wrote about today's field trip.

When we got back from our field trip, we found out that we were able to attend the Veteran's Day Assembly in the afternoon.  Which means we didn't have time to do our math lesson.  Therefore, no homework tonght.  Sorry for any confusion. (I'm sure the kids won't mind :D )

We'll be back on track Thursday!
