My appologies.... I blogged a minor mistake!!

Picture day is this Friday, 10/16.  NOT tomorrow. Please send your kids dressed for pictures on FRIDAY!!!

Tomorrow Second grade will be participating in a Fire Safety presentation. Remember to ask what they learned about Fire Safety when they get home.  Perhaps they can STOP, DROP and ROLL or you can discuss a home safety plan in the event of an emergency.

Best Regards!!

A new week. A new room. A new...

Happy Monday! We have an exciting week ahead of us. We are one of the first classes to undergo construction in the Second grade wing. As of today,we will temporarily be in the art room located closest to the nurses office. Wish us luck in our new home as we begin to adjust to our new setting this week.

Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold out long enough for Second grade to participate in the Springdale Sprint on Friday. Our rain date is this Wednesday, please feel free to come by and cheer us on during this time.

This Thursday is Picture Day! Forms went home Friday. Please remember to send form with payment in the sealed envelope Thursday.

Have a great week!

Welcome back!

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Second Grade and our 2015-16 school year!  I hope everyone enjoyed a heart-warming and relaxing summer.  It's hard to believe we are moving along and starting a new school year.   I'm very excited to be working with you and your children to help make this year in second grade memorable and fulfilling.

We have had quite an exciting beginning of school. There are may new positive changes being implemented school-wide this year; including our 6-day color rotation schedule and our new school rules, "Jaguars ROAR".  The students are adapting well (and so am I) as we all work together to make our school a positive, safe and fun learning environment for everyone.

In an effort to help you keep track of the 6-day color rotation schedule I am posting a color-coded calendar for the 2015-16 year. Each day rotates in a color coded order and each Tuesday has a different specials schedule than that color would normally have on any other day.  Along with the color coded yearly calendar, I will post our daily specials schedule so that you can see ahead of time the specials which are scheduled within each week. Although it may seem confusing and overwhelming at first (which I did), once you get the hang of it, I promise it will make sense. Just ask the kids to explain it to you!

Hello and Happy Spring to all my parents!

We have been extremely busy workers and are well on our way to completing our Leading Our Way unit projects.  Each child has completed their research, scrapbook posters and presentation speeches about their leaders.  I understand they have been very busy with their at home projects as well. I can't wait to see the creative ideas they are completing. The students and I are looking forward to having you join us on Friday, May 8th to preview our museum of famous leaders!!

In an effort to help them feel comfortable about their presentations, I will be sending home a copy of their speech notes on Monday.  Please let your child practice their speech each night during the week.  It should only take a few minutes. They will be able to use their notes during their presentation, but if they can memorize their speech they may do so as well.

Can't wait to see everyone. Enjoy your weekend!

Linda

Community Building

Dear Paents,

I wanted to let you know that I have been receiving several complaints from the students about name calling, poking other children, throwing food and crayons and keeping our hands and feet to ourselves.  In an effort to continue building a positive envirionment in the classroom, I have been working with the class to address these concerns so that all our students can feel safe throughout the day.

Please take a few moments to talk to your children about being kind to each other and remind them that name calling is not appropiate and to always keep hands/feet/objects to ourselves throughout the day.

Thank you for your continued support!

Homework Alert!!

The kids are bringing a reading response and Unit 7 Open Response Review page as homeowrk tonight.  It is a rather long math homework, so I told them they could hand in their reading response on Friday.  This will give them a little more time to spend on math as needed.  Thanks for your supoort!  Hopefully we will see Spring soon!!
